Love And Respect

I have wanted to write a page about love and respect for a while now, because it is sorely needed in our world. I have realized that life is just not worth living without love. Love of God, family,friends, neighbors. Love makes our lives so much richer. I think it is so wonderful that, imperfect as our love is, this is what God wants from us. In return, He gives us his perfect love. That is amazing to me. I mean He gave His only begotten Son to suffer and die for us.What a wonderful God we have. He is also our Father and our King. We are children of the King. God wants us to behave like His children here on earth so that He can draw others to Himself. It is really amazing that He desires our company. The apostle Paul explained it this way in 1 Corinthians Chapter 13: Though I give my life to feeding the poor, though I give my body to be burned for the sake of the Gospel and know everything about everything and have not love it is worth nothing at all. (Rough Paraphrase) We have God's love we have human love and we have Agape love. Unconditional love.I grew up with parents who said if you do what pleases me I will love you. But God says Come to me just as you are but I love you too much to leave you that way. I will refine you like gold I will always be there for you and you can come to me with anything, big or small and if your heart is right toward God he will always accept you. That sounds like a loving God to me. God does discipline His children because He loves them. This is one reason we should show respect for others, because we belong to God. I know I am not always as respectful as I should be, but I want to try harder. I know that if I want respect I need to earn it. It is not necessarily a given. I know this though, We have Faith, Hope, and Love and the greatest of these is love.
